LOWRY.

finally: some photos from our new neighborhood, lowry! people are either yay or nay about lowry, and any negatives come from the fact that lowry is a "planned community".

lowry has a rich history. it used to be an air force base. before the base even closed, it was decided it would be redeveloped into a living area. in an awesomely forward-thinking move, they also made a lot of green decisions, which won lowry a bunch of sustainability awards.

town center. we have a grocery store, coffee shops, a pizza place, everything we need within walking distance!

a cute little chapel. perfect for an elopement, right? {note: you can tell i wrote this in that stressful couple of weeks where we didn't have a venue or date and were seriously considering not doing a big wedding!}

park that i run through everyday. it is paid for by the lowry foundation and is book/reading themed. it has a bunch of neat quotes etched into the walls.

the air and space museum. we have to get there soon to do a tour!

besides the old hangers that have been turned into the restaurant district {including the beer garden}, you see signs of the air force history all over town. from apartment numbers decorated with wings, to sculptures in the shape of planes, it's a nice nod to history.

we love lowry! come visit - we'll get a super pretzel!

LOWRY BEER GARDEN.

to celebrate our official move in, we spent saturday evening at the lowry beer garden. first, it's within walking distance to our new place. automatic two thumbs up. and, it's located inside an old airplane hanger. {lowry is the old airport base. more about our new neighborhood coming in a post soon!} and, they serve soft pretzels, a personal fav.

it was 90+ at 6:00. forgive the frizz hair. i am also whiter than i have ever been in my life because i am scared to leave the house without sunscreen. i'm sure i'll thank myself in 40 years. {i hope.}

dun dun dun dunnn, soft pretzel. really good, plus spicy cheese. nom.

the beer garden is known for their burgers. b agreed that they are fame-worthy.

a night at the beer garden was a great welcome to lowry - we are so happy to be here!

GOODBYE CAP HILL.

today, the townhouse in lowry is officially ours.

when we moved to denver, everyone told us to live in capitol hill. it is near the city, you can walk everywhere and people are always out and about. for those reasons, it has totally rocked. see photos above of the cute mini-carts at our local grocery and the sunset at cheesman park, a literal half block from our front door.

the reasons i'm so happy to be moving include: coin laundry, omnipresent smoke {of the cigarette and marijuana variety, which routinely cause me to wake up coughing}, a still broken disposal that ruined my collection of dishtowels, a peeping tom situation we had earlier this year, no air conditioning combined with 99+ temperatures, overhearing a drag race in our alley every sunday night {it's just like fast and the furious, for real} and 400 square feet crammed with stuff we never unpacked. my mother weeps that i shared that photo of our "storage unit".

it's been a crazy few months, but i think getting settled in a home will help us me feel more settled here in denver. suburbs, here we come!
